Frequently Asked Questions
Apple has demanded that we remove the feature to Free Memory from all our apps. We have decided to remove our existing Free Memory 1.5 and MemoryInfo 1.1 apps from sale. We have instead submitted Free Memory Lite and MemoryInfo Lite without the Free Memory feature.

WHY ARE MY APPS STILL CLOSING UNEXPECTEDLY?
Free Memory frees up available memory for use by applications. However, the amount of memory on the iPhone or iPod Touch is limited to 128 MB on non-3GS devices, and of this, only about 40 MB is available for all applications. If you had run the iPod music player, that will take up additional memory as it continues running in the background. If you had run the Mail app, it also continues to run in the background. If you were sync'ing with iTunes, it also takes up memory. This leaves even less memory for other apps like Safari. If you are accessing web pages that have large images and lots of javascript, this may cause Safari to run out of memory and quit unexpectedly. If you are seeing Safari quit unexpectedly, run Free Memory to free memory just before running Safari.
MY COMPUTER SAYS I HAVE MORE THAN X GB AVAILABLE, WHY DOES FREE MEMORY SAY I HAVE ONLY Y MB AVAILABLE?
Your computer is measuring the amount of storage space available on your iPhone or iPod Touch. This storage space, similar to a hard drive on your computer, is used to store music, video and app files. Free Memory measures run-time memory or RAM. This run-time memory is used by apps only when the app is running. Your iPhone or iPod Touch comes with 8-32 GB of storage memory but only 128 MB of run-time memory or RAM, 256 MB on the iPhone 3GS.
